View Full Version : Filled region casting shadows

I used a filled region in a detail component Rfa. I nested the filled region in another Rfa.(site cat)
On project level the site Rfa works fine except in views > advanced model graphics > cast shadows.
The filled region casts shadows on the ref. plane. Obviously the filled region is lying on a certain hight above the ref-plane although it was set to be on and not above the ref.plane.
Any idea's to lower the hight of the filled region ?

Yes - it is base on the 3D model extents. See attached. This lets you do some clever things. Or can cause trouble. Simplest way to deal with it in a shadow view if it gets in the way is to make a separate category for the filled regions and turn them off in that view.

As Aaron indicated, the filled region is being placed at the highest point of the model of the family it's nested in. If you need the filled region "on" in the shadowed view, maybe you could place the detail component directly into the project (bypassing nesting it in the family)? Kind of hard to think of work-arounds without knowing what the families are or what you're trying to achieve graphically...

Aaron, thanks for reply.
Coincidence: I made (with success) the site Rfa analogue with a method you mentioned once in an earlier thread . (I am all ears)
I noticed it before ... but yesterday, at a meeting with a client he said " I am really impressed ... really nice program you work with ... but that shadow is not right !"
I'll put it on a separate category and have a look at the file you attached.
Thanks again.

I added a height parameter. Now I can set the dept of the shadow as needed.
Thanks
