i just don't get this true north / project north thingy

Ok read threads etc on rotating north

understand fine the process and have done it many times --- except for when you enter the metes & bounds in a table form - then the property lines just won't rotate.

So am i confused here -

True North should always be that -True North -

and the convention i learned is North up the page - so when view is set to true north - north should always be up direction on your screen. Am i understanding ok so far - not talking in dalek tongue am i?

Project North - is project specific and is to assist the setout of the drawings etc on the sheets. So if i have a site with the boundaries at 45degrees on all sides - i can rotate the site on the page so the boundaries are more or less parallel to the sides - (allows for more efficient use of precious vellum! - oh sorry mind wandered back to the ol' days for a minute)

So why doesn't the command do this when property is drawn from table.

And wouldn't the way you do it go something like - draw boundaries - with True North set in view properties - set view to project north then
Then go to the tool named rotate project North - rotate the site - viola view set to "project"

Hi Ken,

If you draw site boundaries using a table, Revit assumes that True North point straight up the page ( 0° 0' 0" ) and East is 90° 0' 0" and South is 180° 0' 0" ( down the page ) and West is 270° 0' 0". This is regardless whether the View is set to Project North ( always straight up the page) or to True North. ( even if you set True North to some bearing away from the top of the page before you placed the site using a table )

Property lines drawn using a table will not rotate using the Rotate this project True North tool. ( all other elements will rotate )

If you have placed site boundaries using a table and then wish to rotate the site for some reason, you will need to sketch property lines over the table lines, then delete the table lines, and then rotate the project using the tool Rotate True North. You could then convert the property lines back to a table format if you wished. ( Dalek spoken here too. )

I just finished setting up a site plan, using tables, yesterday and had no problem rotating the site to project north with everything rotating ?

I find rotating the project before you create your property lines the easiest way to avoid problems.
