View Full Version : GROUPS - Shared with groups schedule fields problem

You create the same object with the same parameters both inside groups and outside groups, you schedule these objects, inside this schedule you create a new field that will be shared by these objects (having been scheduled as type marks), if you try to modify this field for all objects scheduled with the same type mark, you get an error message that "cannot be ignored", reading as follows:

Changes to "Group x" are only allowed during Edit Group mode. Edit Group and make the change again. (x meaning the name of the group).

Solution: edit the properties of every single door individually, when they are inside a group, you edit the group, select the object, change its properties, change that field, repeat for any other door with the same type mark, finish the group and edit every other group that contains the same type marked object , repeat these steps for every scheduled object, then go back to your schedule and you will see everything is as you wanted it from the beginning, something really complex that could have been acomplished by a one click operation.

This only happens with instance parameters.

Another workaround, using the scenario that Aaron Rumple outlined the other day to deal with a curtain wall that was part of a group:

Select the group, Edit Group
Select the component, Cut to Clipboard
Finish Group

In the schedule add the value to the parameter for all the components that are not part of the group. (or select the component, right click, select all instances and edit in the properties dialog)

Return to the view that shows the group
Edit > Paste Same Place (component should appear where it was when you cut it to clipboard)
Select the component, add the value to its parameter via the properties dialog

Select the Group, Edit Group, Add to Group
Select the component, Finish Group

Schedule should be filled out.

Thanks for the workaround, I will try it next time, this time what I did is created again all the parameters but changed them from instance to type because the labels for the tags were mark type, that way regardless of being part of a group or not, the parameter was changed for all objects at one time fron the schedule.
