Anybody have an idea what this is?
"express tools unable to load acetauto./sp/fas
bad argument type: consp "arctext"
We are developing a prototype for a network installation of 2006 on Windows XP workstations. We have worked out the search path problems. We have AutoCAD 2002 installed and are using a demo license to run AutoCAD 2006 (from the release disks we received with our purchase). We are testing the settings migration functionality.
Express tools installs in C:\programs\AutoCAD 2002\Express AND C:\programs\AutoCAD2006. Files are needed from both (they are both required to be in the search path)

Hi
Your AutoCAD 2002 and 2006 installs should be completely separate.

Your Express Tools installation for AutoCAD 2002 and 2006 should be completely separate.
For your AutoCAD 2006 installation make sure you only install the Express Tools from the AutoCAD 2006 installation CD.

Check out the following results obtained via an Autodesk Discussion Groups "All AutoCAD Express Tools Groups" search -
"acetauto" (http://discussion.autodesk.com/search.jspa?numResults=25&inputEntered=true&source=forumlist%7C34&q=acetauto&objID=c34&search.x=16&search.y=5) - 29 results.

Looks like we have this fixed
Off the Autodesk forums I picked up the recommendation to repair the registry from user "Walford" (http://forums.augi.com/archive/index.php/t-18825.html)
This seems to have worked. For now
To repair the registry, (running Windows XP) go to the start menu; control panel; add/remove programs and select AutoCAD 2006; Change; Reinstall or Repair Autocad2006; repair registry. then follow the prompts.

Thanks, Mike
I am going through that list now. Very helpful. I really like the idea of having a separate 2002 and 2006 installation. We are taking advantage of the 2006 migration tools to insure a smooth migration and I think that means 2002 needs to be on the machine when we run the install for 2006. I am certain I was not given an option during the installation to select a specific location to install express tools. I don't recall there being any options for AutoCAD either. Is there some material somewhere on how to separate them?
To ease the pain of teaching old dogs new tricks we plan to use a few early adopters to learn the ins and outs of the new software and develop an internal knowledge pool to help the more experienced staff who are too busy to prepare for the upgrade.

Hi
When you install AutoCAD 2006 it should offer you the following location as the default install location -
C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2006
Then when installing the Express Tools from the AutoCAD installation CD it should automatically install in the following location -
C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2006\Express
The above might be slightly different seeing as you already have AutoCAD 2002 installed, but that being said you should still have the option of installing AutoCAD 2006 where you want.
Have a good one, Mike
