We did a simple reception desk, and for some reason the cut plane for the elevation view starts at the default front/back reference plane. This isn't how I remembered it working, and is a little annoying.
Is this how its always been?

?
Was that family a furniture/casework or generic family. They have different rules on how they appear when sectioned.

It was the furniture family template. So as the drawing progressed, some elements projected beyond the front/back reference plane, and therefor were not visible on the front elevation.
I don't see why that would be the case, and it was annoying to have to move the model around to see elements. I didn't think elevational view depth was controlled by reference planes, ya know? Its almost dare I say, like a bug?

Hummm. I did a quick check here and that's not what I'm getting. As long as the section/elevation line intersects or is in front of the furniture, it projects the correct elevation. I would suspect some other settings. Post the family?

Aaron,
Thanks for your reply. Here is a simple model recreating the issue. I went back and tried again, and it appears the issue lies only with model text. It is not about section lines, but about the front elevation/reference plane position relative to the text. If you move the model back from the plane in plan, the text becomes visible in front elevation.
