does revit have one stroke keyboard short cuts, or are they all 2 stroke commands? Like can I program my keyboard to move an object by simply hitting the "M" key?

You can use 1 keystroke. However if "M" is asigned to Move, then you can't use MA for mass.

M appears to be hardcoded to Edit/Modify...there isn't a menu option for this. This will prevent you from assigning M to anything else as a single letter keyboard shortcut. Other letters will, however if you have two letter ks's that use the same first letter as the single, you 'll have to press ENTER after pressing the single letter. Which in effect means it is a two letter shortcut

How would I change the assignements for those keyboard short cuts?

M isn't hardcoded. It is just referenced in the shortcut file already. All those other entries will have to be deleted first...

Got to:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk Revit Building 8\Program and open keyboardshortcuts.txt.

You should make a backup of the original, we use keyboardshortcuts-ORIG.txt

OR go here (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=2223&highlight=keyboard)and see info on a tool created for this purpose. I have also posted our TXT file and our printout of those shortcuts.

You can also hit the space bar...this makes the 2 letter shortcut more like 1 1/2. :-)

Okay I downloaded this shortcut tool. However it will only work with a few keys. It won't work with "M" move without having to ARROW down through other option assigned with M. How would I unassign all other commands associated with "M"

In our office we have recently switched from Revit Building 9.1 to Revit Architecture 2008, and now I am unable to find the keyboard shortcuts text file. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where it is? It wasn't where it was before.

It's in the same place for us as it was before: C:\Program Files\Revit Architecture 2008\Program\KeyboardShortcuts.txt

I still don't see it. The machine is running Windows Vista if that makes a difference. If it has disappeared, then copy a text file from an older machine?

I'm really not crazy. With Vista, the file has changed locations. Here's the path...

C:\Users\(your user name)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Revit Architecture 2008\Program\KeyboardShortcuts.txt

The KeyboardShortcuts.txt file doesn't like Vista's new User Account Control (UAC). The UAC has to be turned off prior to installation in order for the file to locate properly. Then, don't forget to turn the UAC back on again.
