Minimum Length in formula

How would I make a formula that requires a minimum length for an instance parameter? I have an object that can be stretched using handles but if it stretches beyond a certain point it gives errors. So, I'd like make sure it's impossible to stretch beyond that point.

Any ideas?

You will always end up with a circular chain of references in trying this.
I like to be wrong about this...

You could add a formula to prevent the size being larger that a certain amount, however you will lose your grips....
