Images attached are views of the same model displayed in different detail levels. I've tested this in 8 and 8.1 with the same results. Model is simply an angled bracing (with its ref plane) in radial array (16 elements 360 degrees). Looks ok when in coarse mode, stick symbols reflects true structure. In fine mode, well....
I,ve tested this structure with a family consisted of angled bracing with parametric angle.
The family in an array displays properly in all display modes.
Revit seems to be good software for predicting the future of architecture. My model in coarse mode looks a little like Adziogol Lighthouse, by Vladimir G. Schuchov, (1911), in fine mode like Tatlin’s Memorial to the Third International, 1919–20. Ten years difference in one model. I wonder how Freedom Tower looks like in fine mode.
