View Full Version : Controlling join geometry?

When I join geometry of objects, is there a way to control which piece has parts cut out of it and which don't? I have a slab edge that I joined to a slab and it cut out part of the slab and left all of the slab edge. Can I make it cut out part of the slab edge and leave all of the floor slab?

We have this logic hard coded for your case. Our product designers thought we never want to cut the slab edge by the host. There are a number of other such fixed orders (like between column and wall, always the column gets cut).

However when the order is not hard coded, you can control which one gets cut by the selection order. (Say in case of the slab edges joined.)

Patrick, could you edit the profile family you're using so it doesn't cut the slab edge during join geometry?

Actually I just made a new profile shape for a different type of slab turndown, so it's not an issue now.

In my opinion, though, selection order should always determine which piece gets cut by the join process.
