Is it possible to show a wall shaded(hatched) in a plan view when you are viewing the plan in a medium view just like when viewing it in a course view?

Go to visibility/graphics, scroll down to walls, In the Detail Level column, override wall to display to be Coarse.

That's not quite what I'm looking for. I still want the detail I get with the Medium detail view, but I also want the wall to be shaded, is this possible?

If I understand you correctly, you want the stud space shaded but still want the drywall to show up as a separate line? You can do this by using a different material definition for th stud space. Just make the material hatch solid. If you want the drywall shaded also just use a different material for that as well.
