Railing panel over-run

How can I adjust or remove the start & end panel in a railing. As a standard panel is say 1m but the two end panels have to be special depending on the size left over on the handrail .If I could remove the first & last panel I could model them in the project.

1. i like that railing family, very cool.
2. In the past, i've had to make 2 separate railing families, one with the full size panel, another with smaller panels for the ends... then draw 2 separate railings, one for the bulk of the rail, the second for each end panel. It doesn't appear that railing panel parameters are accessible from the railing editor, which is unfortunate, and i think would make a good wish list item.

Thanks janunson I'll give it a try. The trick will be to try to get the hand rail the right lengths, so as to line up.
