View Full Version : Transparent Roof on Site Plan

No matter what I do, the roof shows up as transperant in my site plan. I'm not using wire frame. Even if I change the view to shaded with edges, the floor plan continues to show through. The roof plan displays fine.

Only things I can think of;
-Cut plane got messed up somehow and is set to floor level
-Roof material is made up of sloped glazing
Strange

Neither of those. I've played with the cut plane and it cuts the building as it should but if I set it above the the building then I get the result shown. I've checked the roof material but it displays correctly in 3D. Only in plan is there an issue. And besides, if it were sloped glazing it still wouldn't show what was beneath in hidden line view would it?

Phasing issue?

Hey there,
Is it possible that you have an underlay?

Back from long weekend. :)
No phasing in the job and no underlays turned on.

How big is the file ?
Can you purge and post ?
Have you submitted it to support yet ?

In the process of purging/deleting things so I could post the file here I managed to fix it - turns out that if property lines are visible then I have this problem. If not, then things behave as they should. I guess I'll just trace some drafting lines over the top as a work around. Very odd though as if there's one place I'd want to have property lines showing it'd be on the site plan! :)

Certainly haven't come across that one before.
It would be worth submitting to support for comment.

I have the very same problem. And yes, the only way to have the correct behaviour of site plan shaded view is to turn off the site categorie in the view properties... Not very useful for site plan...
By the way, the project is also using groups... in those groups I have a small house and some parking lots an topo sub regions and trees... copied several times.
When I turn off the site categorie, everything is OK and my site elements in the groups (car, tree, parking lot..) stay visible... It's fine for me but is it the way it is supposed to be ?

Hi Exar Kun
I am having the same problem as you did. Did you just turn off the property lines in the visibility/graphics tab and the roof reverted back to normal?
Very frustrating! :(

His post was made in 2005, ten years (+) of history here at AUGI. I have seen this issue (hidden line mode not working properly) occur when a DWG is visible and its extents exceed the 20 mile threshold that Revit generates a warning about while linking the file. It usually happens in elevations but it might be related if you have a DWG visible in the view too.
