I just got the go-ahead to purchase a new laptop. My research points me to Dell:

Intel® Pentium® M Processor 770 (2.13 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm
256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 6800

I am assuming that the CPU, RAM and Video are the only three things that Revit is concerned about....

Please let me know if there is anything else out there that I should consider.

TIA

TIAI'd recommend the XPS Gen2 because of it's 17" screen, better video card (now), and the faster processor - for not too much more $$.

I've got one and it runs revit fine, I don't use a desktop computer now, everything is on the notebook and I can work anywhere.

Let me know if you've got any specific questions.

How about a laptop with a 19" display?

WOW! Obviously targetted for the desktop-replacement market... at 4.4kg I'd wouldn't like to be lugging that around all day

Dell are great, but I bought this (http://www.acer.co.uk/acereuro/page4.do?dau22.oid=10445&UserCtxParam=0&GroupCtxParam=0&dctx1=17&CountryISOCtxParam=UK&LanguageISOCtxParam=en&crc=902971090)Acer Tablet laptop and would be reluctant to go back to a regular laptop.

Firstly the tablet function is just brilliant. Secondly, every time you spin that screen round in a meeting, people raise their eyebrows! Thirdly it's got all the performance (upgraded to a gig of RAM) and connectivity that you 'should' need. (Bluetooth is great!)

The spec doesn't seem that high, but it out performs most desktops. I think they have just got all the bits inside talking to each other really well.

My 2 pence!

Have you used the pen on Revit? Does it work well. How is the speed? Our office is looking for a new laptop, but the tablet functions of the new machine's would be a great bonus.
