Howdy y'all,
This may be one for the career forum. Feel free to relocate.
Do list your involvement in AUGI on your resume? If so, how? This is especially for you moderator/volunteer types.

I shouldn't see why not, particularly in the technical sections. Couldn't it be llisted as Volunteering or community services?

From a prospective employer point of view I would want to see commitment, dedication, professional interest in a candidate .. so yes it would be worthwhile to include

Yes, I would list it. I'm not sure how your Resume is arranged, but if you have a "Professional Activities" section or "Interests" then I'd add it and explain briefly about your involvement.

I agree with Brian that you should put it in interests or professional activities. It shows that your well rounded, (you're not out parting from 5:01 to 7:59), and that you have enough commitment to your career to join/volunteer, etc, with a separate technical group that isn't affiliated with work.
Good employers like this.

I'm moving this to the CAD Management forum since I feel this applies more towards the management end of things on AUGI.

13I most definitely would list my activities with AUGI on a resume. It would show a couple other things to a prospective employer than what have been brought up previously. In addition to what others have said, you would have concrete evidence that you really know your profession & depending on your level of rep/postings, it shows your dedication & how you are viewed with the online community - which should be a direct relation to your real world persona.
P.S. - What's with the 16/13?

13reminds me, I should make one of those one day...
I would list it, perhaps like this:
Professsional/Trade Organizations:
Autodesk User's Group International - 2001 - present
Survey Manager
Technical Support Forum Moderator
Gateway Autodes User's Group - Founded 2004
Vice President/Treasurer
What? you have no LUG to make a 2nd entry under trade organizations? go start one (http://forums.augi.com/augilogout.php?url=LUGs)!

I would list Augi on a resume and if asked in an interview it gives a chance to highlight some of the things that a more knowledgeable cad person may know.

Also, how would one list teaching an ATP course?

[/indent]I would include being an augi member, say how long you've been a member (one year in your case?)
then tab over like where I have my job title and put something like
AUGI - 2004 to present
Course Instructor - Topic or name of course
or something like that.

Also, I might suggest spelling AUGI out unless you simply want to hold that information back until the interview process. Not everyone knows what AUGI is (even if they do, I've found few people really understand everything AUGI offers). Autodesk User Group International (AUGI) at least gives them an idea what might AUGI might be.

I'd list it anyway as long as you know you'll be doing it. Just let them know if they ask during the interview when you'll be doing it and what it covers....

Well, here's what I added to my resume, between the professional experience and the education section:
PROFESSIONAL GROUPS
Autodesk Users Group International (AUGI)
Member since December 2000
Volunteer: Online AutoCAD Gallery Manager
