I was doing some research and found that Tristar is still in existence! I haven't used these guys for 8-10 years.

Is anyone using Tristar? If so, any comments or suggestions? I'm trying to find an alternative to Dell. For us, their support has dropped of the charts recently.

TIA,
Brad

I don't know much about Tristar (but since I know you're looking for a laptop) I have to recommend Thinkpads. They're not IBM anymore but they're still the best. My old thinkpad still beats our office Dell at a lot of things and it's technically slower. The difference is in the integration and details. If you can't have a Powerbook (since they can't run Revit) then Thinkpads are the next best thing.

Wow, they are still around. The last machine(s) we had from them was a Dual Pentium Pro 400mhz running NT4.

My first pc was a tristar 486DX50... it was fast compared to my brothers Zeos 486DX66.

My first Tristar was a 486/dx2-66. BLAZING FAST!

Hey Andre,
About thinkpads... Do they come in 2gb RAM versions? I was looking at them and the website doesn't offer 2gb. What's your config?

The T43p (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-58315) supports 2 Gb and also comes with an ATI FireGL V3200.

Great! Thanks!

I'm probably going with the Thinkpad!

Mine is an old X20, which I have because it's so small and light that I can always have it with me. I don't run Revit (or any other cad) on it, just Oulook, Office, Database type stuff. I use it as a notebook and ebook more than for work, but I've compared it again our Dell Latitude D600 and found it faster at some tasks.

The T43p looks great.

That Thinkpad - esp with the ATI Fire card - would be the bomb. Thanks for posting that Steven!
