View Full Version : No project template, starting new project

We're not yet ready to create the office project template as we are only 80% complete on our first full Revit job. We need to start a new project in Revit and use the stuff we have already figured out - wall and door legends, room finish schedules, sheet layouts etc...
How do we do that without compromising the first project?

I think there may be different ways, but the way I did it was to "Transfer Project Standards". It's in the File pulldown menu. Open your orignal project and then your new project (in that order) then go to the File pulldown menu, about 7 lines down you'll see "Transfer Project Standards" choose that, then it will give an entire list of all your items, you can choose which ones to Transfer. It will ask you at the top of that box where you want to Transfer from, but sure to select you original project. Hope this helps.

I tried that but all I got was the actual project standards such as wall types, dimension styles etc... What I really want is the really nice room finish schedule that took me a few days to set up on the old job. It is finished and I don't want to have to recreate all my fields and schedule keys. I tried cut and paste from old to new and that did not work. Will continue to try...
thanks!

Some of the things, like Schedules & Legends don't transfer with the "Transfer Projects Standards". The easiest way to copy these things from Project to Project is to open your old project that already has - for example - a Room Finish Schedule in it. Also open your new project. In the old project from a Sheet, select the schedule and Copy to Clipboard. Go to the new Project and Paste from Clipboard (you'll have to paste from a Sheet to a Sheet). If you're not ready to place an actual Schedule yet, you can delete what you just pasted from the new project Sheet. The schedule itself will still be there.
Ditto for Legends (and Wall Types, for that matter)
It would be nice to be able to Transfer these kinds of things (hint, hint)

...How do we do that without compromising the first project?...You could do a saveas of the current project and delete the model to start out for the new project with where the current project is? Would that work for you?
