Hello Guys,
I have some autocad 2002 drawings. The version that I am working with is 2004. I am the drawing, do my work and then when it is time to save stuff, I have no option to save it to 2002. There are few options, mainly to save as 2000 or 2004. Is there a way that I can retain the verion of the drawing. I would like to do this as a batch process too. The Saveas method has the same options as the one in the option dialog box.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Raj.

To my knowledge, there is not a 2002 dwg version. There is, of course, AutoCAD 2002, but it utilizes the 2000 dwg version.

Raj,

AutoCAD 2002 saves the drawings in 2000 format - they are the same file type. So you can use the 2000 option to save to the original file type.

Thank you for the solution. Although I have another query.
Does this means that any version prior to 2004 till 2000 will be saved as 2000 version?

Thanks,
Raj

More or less, yes. AutoCAD 2000, 2000i, and 2002 all use the 2000 format file type.

2004, 2005, and 2006 all use the 2004 file type. :)

Hi Raj

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the VBA (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=92) forum to this one as I feel this particular Forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

Thanks, Mike

Hi Raj,

For the batch processing please take a look at the "Batch Drawing Converter", that as I remember comes with the installation.

There is also a way to set up AutoCAD so it default saves to the format you are looking for
go to Tools>Options>Open and Save, there is a drop down box on the left side that you can set Cad to save to one of various formats, that way, you wont need to set it every time

But be aware that blocks and xrefs edited "in place" will be saved to the current format regardless of your setting.
