There's the full version of Adobe (of course) also Bluebeam, Ottopdf, Jaws, pdf995 and many others.
The latest version of DWGgateway (http://www.DWGgateway.com) includes pdf creation for acad A2000 onwards.

pdf995, it is a shareware program, if you dont mind the advertizements, you can use it for free, I'm not sure where to get it, but you can download it from its website, do a search for pdf995

Try the forum search (http://forums.augi.com/search.php?) facility, it will turn-up a huge amount of data on this very subject.
To get you going in the right direction, take a look at the links found in the following thread...

Have a good one, Mike

Can somebody please recommend the best software for converting AutoCAD drawings to a pdf formatI don't know if this will prove which is the 'best', but, I did post a poll a while back asking people which program they used. Hopefully that will help you in your search. Good luck!
What PDF Writer do you use? (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=11104)

if you use the pdf995, any version before 2004 seems to crash once it distills, so be careful!

After testing several, we decided to use Acroplot (http://www.acroplot.com).

One to avoid, the Acrobat PDF Distiller. We started with that and had problems with our text masking coming up black boxes. We now use Acrobat PDF Writer.

your ctb file is pretty much worthless (it doesnt seem to stick to well to plot style settings with text and other objects) and the files seem to be huge compared to other 3rd party apps.

...and it wasn't part of AutoCAD until version 2007. Many people are still using older versions.
If you are just making an occasional, simple PDF, the built-in one will probably suffice. However if any of the following are important, you will need a 3rd party product.
* smaller file sizes
* the need to use "lines merge"
* the need to searchable text in the PDF
