I searched for this answer but never really found a straight forward simple answer to this.
If I am creating Wall Sections using the Callout command, should I use the "Detail View" or "Section View" for my wall section?
Common sense would lead me to use "Section View" for wall sections and "Detail View" for plan and section details.
Does common sense prevail here?

Sections always go up/down.
Details can be cut at any angle.
That's the basic difference between the two.
I, like many, have made additional categories for Wall Section, Roof Details, Interior Details, Window Details, etc...

Does this mean that the two options (CALLOUT - Section View / Detail View) really only determine which category the view is placed in under the project browser, or are there other differences built into the commands?

Each of the view types can have a different head family associated with it (see image attached).
If I'm not mistaken, the default behaviour for the detail view has it inheriting the view range of the parent view from which it is taken as opposed to a building or wall section which will cut the model extents.

I am searching for this answer as well. I couldn't find any difference other than categorizing the view created in the project browser. If someone has a better understanding of this please share. Thank you so much.

Another difference that I have noticed is that you can Orient a 3D view to a section cut, but not to a Detail cut.

Another thing is that you can not duplicate detail view as dependent.
