Problem while trying to edit generic model

I've got some arches I'm trying to edit, but when I click the edit button the model completely changes. I have several of this exact arch throughout the model and sometimes it works and sometimes it gives me what you see below (before and after pictures).

I created them by doing a sweep along a path created by selecting the arched edge of the opening. Suggestions?

Cant seem to recreate what you are talking about. Posting the file would help in trying to figure it out.
