Scale of a View Limitation

What's with not being able to set a view scale to greater than 1:2000? :evil:
I have a locality plan that I need to be at a scale of 1:3000.
1:2000 is not a very large scale, if there had to be a cut off (which there shouldn't) I thought it would be up around 1:10000.

Chad -

There really is no limit to the scaling. You can use the custom option and type in 3000 or whatever scale you need.

If it wasn't for the explicit error message, I would thnk this is a bug. I was a bit surprised to see it, always though there was no scale limit.

Can you contact support for clarification ?

My italian Revit 5.1 is experiencing the same issue... just tried it!

Revit doesn't allow you to type in a value to move an object more than 2000' either. In colorado we are at 5000+ ft above sea level so I'm always having to move civil data from 5000 to 100 and I have to do it in 3 steps. Maybe revit doesn't like the number 2000

Can you contact support for clarification ?
I have contacted my local reseller (KarelCAD in Brisbane) and they were unaware of the problem, and have contacted Autodesk about this.
I doubt I will get any further clarification. But it definitely looks as though it was intentional (at the time). Another thought is that it could even possibly be a debug error message that may have been forgotten to be taken out before the final compile.

If I make a new drafting view I can set up a scale of 1:15000
If this view is allready in the file and I want to change it, I get an error saying the max scale is 1:2000

I wonder if Revit was designed to handle certain sizes of co-ordinate systems. We've had to design a workaround for working very large co-ordinate systems, but this one is tough - I don't understand why we can't look at the model in larger scales.

The only work around is to scale it up in Acad then reinsert. but this proves messy. All I can say is that it has been attended to in 6.0 :lol:

My reseller says,

"It's a limitation in the software. Revit development are looking at addressing it in a future release."
