So,
Attached is an example of the roof detail I want to achieve however I am having a lot of trouble modeling it.
The 8x 12 timber is easy to do when it is an extrusion
This is what I have done in the example shown.
I want to be able and execute the same cut on a structural family member.
However I cannot fathom how to create that memeber in the family editor.
plus
The roof itself needs the same rafter cut.
This is most crucial for me to do sense I have been succeful already in using linework to fake the cut on the 8 x 12's.
Any Thoughts

OK
After some time scrutinizing what was happening I have figured out that to make this model it is as simple as a two plumbcut with desired facia depth. However it did not let me do that because, previously I had shaped my footprint in many areas to avoid conflict with walls, and barrel vault roofs, etc. It must be a very simple shape to start with.
Now I need a structural beam to pocket nicely to a wall and have a two plumb cut at the tail end.

How did you get your arrow heads in a heavy line weight? Sorry I can't help you w/ your rafter problem. Thanks.

This might work for you...
Note that the facia depth parameter is from the ref level to the cut.

Not completely understanding your building from the section, but could you not model the timbers from a sloped glazing roof ( timbers are your mullions - no glazing); then add a second roof aligned on the timbers composed of the structure you have shown?. I have not checked to see if the glazed roof will perform the two plumb cut on the timbers, but I think a void sweep would do the trick.

I figured someone had it.

This is actually a dgn import that I have adjusted with line work. For the most part everything started out as line work and I just continued with different line weights and styles.
