With the new release of autocad coming out I was wondering if anybody new if users who purchased the combo Revit/Acad package would be getting this upgrade also. I thing it is essentially the same program athough it is packaged with Revit.

YES. If you have Autocad Revit Series on Subscription then you get all new upgrades of Revit and Autocad.

Greg,

Do you know if this is a global thing. I can't seem to get any answer from my supplier

I don't know. I would assume, unless they stated otherwise in your contract. That is the whole point of the Revit Series.

Siwmax,

I believe that Revit Series was a North America only deal initially, but is now being rolled out in other markets. This is hearsay only, mind.

Revit Series is available in Australia ( since last year ), so should also apply to NZ.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Although we have subscription, to both ADT and Revit, is there any difference with the Revit Series?
Thanks

Simon

Simon,
I think the difference is that with the two separate licences you have two seats. With Series you have two licences in an either/or type of setup. You can use either, but not both at the same time.

The cost is quite a bit less for Revit Series than for Revit and ADT, I think.

Simon,

If you are using ADT as ADT, not ACAD, as well as Revit, then you have to keep them separate. 1 ADT license on subscription, and 1 Revit license on subscription. The Revit Series is only AutoCAD and Revit, not ADT and Revit. Also, if two different people are using both licenses concurrently, you need to keep the two licenses as is.

If you are using ADT as AutoCAD, you may want to upgrade your ADT to the ACAD Revit Series (ARS). The benefit is that you only pay $100 extra for the ARS subscription vs. Revit subscription. For this extra $100, you get upgrades to AutoCAD AND Revit.

Keep in mind that you can't split up the Revit Series bundle among multiple users. You can use ACAD and Revit concurrently on one desktop, but your coworker cannot use ACAD while you use Revit with the license. Example, if you own 3 ARS standalone licenses, only 3 desktops can be installed with the ARS licenses. Each desktop would be installed with ACAD and Revit.

AbigayleAEC,
you are one concise, eloquent monkey
Very good summary of the various scenarios.

(just realized this post might seem rather unflattering or derogatory should you change your avatar in the next while  )

I guess I'll continue playing the monkey then. Hoo Hoo Hee Hee! I love bananas and Revit. :D

Thanks for the info, finally got the right stuff from my supplier also.
Last year we upgraded 30+ LT's to ADT (with the option to crossgrade to Revit) because there was a really good deal on. So now we have that many ADT's being used...like plain ACAD! Anyway my evaluation is still going ahead, I LIKE this software, ADT's a pain.
