To all the Revit AUGI people:

Scott Brown and I are giving a class at AU (sounds really familiar, so far, doesn't it?) on Detailing with Revit. We are looking to provide a CD of content to the attendees of the class that will contain as many detailing components as possible.

So we need your help! Please post/email me your detail families that you have created, and don't mind sharing! All those that contribute will get a copy (via a CD or electronic transfer) of all the content collected.

Thanks in advance for sharing!

Scott,

If you want me to use email, I'll need your address. Be sure to jumble it to avoid spam.

All this learning and cd's etc for people who attend AU is fantastic, but what about us down here in AU (oz) that can't
A) get time off to attend and/or
B) afford to attend

I'm still a newbie to Revit (even though been using it 18mths now) my use is not 100% of the day every day so its taking a long time to get proficient - and it would be great to get the content from AU

Ken

I'd have to agree with Ken on this... it'd be nice if it could be made available to all, even if a small fee was levied to cover production costs, delivery, etc.

How about it guys? Is it possible?

I think that all you need to do is provide some detail components to the Scotts and they will send out the final CD as a thank you for your contribution. I know that I will be contributing!

Fair enough, but it would still be nice if a CD or whatever could be made available to those who are less experienced or not in a postion to contribute.

Scott,
Seems as though everyone has got something or other to blab about, but no one is actually supplying you with anything.
So here is just a few cool things we have built.
This is pretty much the way we do all our fine details. Detail components nested in profiles.
Hope they help! If you need more, let me know. Got tons!

Here are a few I have collected via other resources. Some funky repeating details.
Scott I am sending some over the top timber details, in an email. To big to post.

Thanks Zeds, and all who have sent detail components so far! I will be making all this content available (with each contributor's permission) some how. This could be via CD, or could be throught the Revit AUGI Exchange, which could really help kick-start the Exchange by getting a ton of good detail components loaded up there!

Scott,

I've got about 24MB worth, how would you like me to send it...Could you please break it down into chunks under 10 megs and email them to me as ZIP files? (Our limit is 10 megs, no sure about on your end!) Email address is in this thread....

I sent Scott all my detail components! Everyone else should do the same. Hopefully Scott has the time to go through them all and sort out the good from the bad. If I had to choose I would definitely go for quality over quantity. Things look good so far!

Scott,

Here's a detail family I created for our foundation walls. I made it flexible, so I could use the common 'types' in all our projects. Hope this is what you are looking for. Wish I could come to AU-maybe next year? (Here's hoping!)

Hello Scott,
I think this exercise has proven to be beneficial in many respects.
I opted to send you just one Detail Component that has more of the Revit spirit you may want to transmit at AU.

Parametric resizing (with instance grips for flexibility)
Embedded DWGs rather than nested families (for speed)
Visibility parameters (for extended usability)
The supplier's URL (for trackback and scheduling)

Scott,

Have tried emailing these families / components to you several times "unsuccessfully" for some reason...

Please find them attached.

Scott,
I would like to contribute the details for your Revit Detailing Class. I hope that they are helpful. As a member of AUGI, I am glad to contribute something good to the Revit user community. Let me know if they come through. I am looking forwards to meet all of you guys at the Mixer.

I have some steel detailing components which I have started using and would love for people to expand on them.

There pretty basic but very handy. Just add them onto the end of the structural members.

Another Aussie wondering how you can send me other detail components.
