Can I populate a cell in a table with the value from a dimension?
How can it be done?

I work with blanking lines and I would like the dimensions for the
coil widths and pitch to be directly placed in a table.

Can I simply set up a field that uses the value of the dimension?
I am not sure how to do this, any help would be appreciated.

Hi

Yes it can be done.

Here's One method - Look at getting the "Measurement" property of your Dimension(s) via FIELD, then plug this value into a Cell within your TABLE.

Have a good one, Mike

You can with fields. When you create your field, use the "objects" field category. Then you select the dimension you want tied to the field. Then in the property pane scroll down to "measurement". This will give you the measurement of the dimension. If you change the dimension the field will also update. The only thing is you will probably get more decimal places then you want, but this has been mentioned before.

You can set the precision of the measurement within the field dialog box. It's located on the right side of the dialog box. You can also set the format of that field to a different unit format (none, current units, decimal, architectural, engineering, fractional, scientific)

I'm assuming this is a 2006 option? I'm using LDT 2005 and don't see anything to change the precision of the measurement.

I guess you need to change your signature again. :(

Thanks for the replies........I can easily see the power behind using tables and fields. What a time saver here :Puffy:
