CUI issues with "use own icon" set to NO

We have been working with the AutoCAD 2006 CUI for some time now. One thing I have noticed is that toolbars having flyouts are loading really slow. Computer speeds are not an issue nor is ram (3ghz w/1gig ram). When the "use own icon" is set to NO, they are really slow opening. If I change it to YES, they open fine but that button on the flyout is not current.

Any suggestions?
