any idea why i can't get my hipped shingled roof to render or display any fill pattern.

Firstly check the material used in the top roof layer. What is its surface pattern in projection ? What is its render material etc.
If necessary, make a piece of that material elsewhere in the model and see how that displays.

Also, check all visability settings for that view , including temporary hide.

I was having a problem with my roof patterns not displaying until I figured out that after upgrading to 7.0, my custom patterns (from acad.pat) were wiped out, and I had to go back and recreate my roof shingle pattern again. I guess this stands to reason, but there should be some way not to have this happen when going from 6.1 to 7.0.

Your fill patterns are typically stored in your template. You can us transfer project standards to import them to a new 7.0 template....

Your fill patterns are typically stored in your template.Actually in this case, I had a project which had been created in 6.1, with elevations and patterns already displaying, and when I upgraded that project to 7.0, they apparently were wiped out.
