Curious how others are, for example, turning their 12" generic roofs into the finished product.

A. Select the roof and pick a more detailed construction type.
B. Edit and rename the generic type to better represent the construction.
Both work well.

For walls the trick is to pick the wall, edit the location line to be whatever face you want to stay where it is, then just swap it out with the wall type you want. This process is dramatically speeded up if you get in the habit of drawing your walls with thelocation line set to the place in the wall you want fixed(for me that is usually exterior f.o.core). When you create roofs and floors always check the extend in to core also.
Its also sometimes easier to delete and redraw items. Many times a SD model is trash, its been thrown together with little thought to constructions(which is fine and revit supports this), so don't feel bad taking the lessons you learned and rebuilding as needed.
