Hi,

I just created a solid gray filled region to indicate no CJ's in a gym floor slab. After doing this the wall footing lines were not showing up through the region. I selected the region and then the Send to Back tool but it does not seem to be working.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,

Rick McElvain

Hi Rick,

The send / back - front fill command only applies to 2D elements.

beegee,

thanks for the response, is there a way to accomplish this then? I found a response from Pete J regarding transparent filled regions and his suggestion was to use a dot screen set to be transparent.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm going to try the dot screen out and see if that works for what I want....

Rick,
Isn't it just a matter of setting the fill region to transparent?

Hi Tom,

Here's an image of the Type Properties and one of the plan view. I've got the Background set to Transparaent but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Have you been able to get it to work?

...because you are using a solid fill. Use a fine dot pattern and it will work.

Hi all,
Ya, Aaron is right...
But there is no default dot pattern so you will need to import one from your autocad PAT folder.

I have created a detail component with some filled region hatch. How can I get the hatch to rotate with the inserted detail group and not remain orientated with the plan in which it is inserted?

I have pretty much the same issue. With 9.1 I was able to create solid filled region set it to transparent and be done.
Now with 2008 it blocks evetything. even when i change it to something other than solid it is not good because makes the model elements fuzzy.
Any help?

Hello all,

I was struggling with the same problem, and
finally found out that you need to use Detail lines
to make them bring to front of a filled region.

This is, probably, because, Model lines are 3D
elements, so they can't interact "in 2D ways".

anyway, with detail lines it worked for us.

Of course, it's not easy to convert model
lines into model lines! maybe for the same reason?
But there is a post by Steve Safford on that
with a workaround, if I am not wrong.

Hello,

I stumbled upon a solution to this problem:

1. set your solid fill to transparent and click Send to Back.
2. change the view setting for the entire view to wireframe
3. then change the view setting back to hidden line. Nothing will have changed in the Revit view of the solid fill, but both the Print Preview and the PDF of the view are now correct.

I can't think of why this works, but it certainly solved a lot of headaches.
I hope others have similar results!
