Hello,

I am working with a 3d dwg. It actually came from SketchUP, Then it was exported as a 3D dwg. and then imported into Revit.

How can one turn this model into a mass.
I need to then take the mass to create walls and roofs and ultimately take it into VIZ so I can assign materials to specific model groups.

Is there anyway to make the dwg a "mass"?

Thanks
Flip

Remove the dwg, start a new mass family, import the dwg, finish the mass family.

Only problem there is that SketchUp export to DWG is accomplished as mesh faces. You won't be able to do floor area faces, volumes or surface areas. If you have Rhino or Inventor, you could try converting the SketchUp DWG export to an SAT file, then linking back into Revit.

Like James said, floors won't work, however walls do. You could manually put the floors in afterwards. I have tried importing a sketchup DWG into Autocad & then using the acisout function. The acisout function doesn't recognize the mesh faces & requires solids, regions or shape manager bodies to do a SAT out. My guess is inventor or rhino would have the same issues.
