Creating 2d scrolls from 3d solids

I've created a basic 3d drawing of a 30degree wye of 6" diameter pipe. I'd like to create a 2d scroll showing the cuts on AutoCAD 2004. Can anyone tell me how this can be done?

The only way I know is the same as with pencil and paper - mark around the periphery and project onto a plane. :-(
