Old problem but one I havnt got around to sorting, Im sure all you guys have fixed it long ago. When viewing drawing projects in Windows Explorer viewed as Thumbnails, all my thumbnails have a White Background. Is there any way of changing it to a Black Background? My drawings all have a Black Background and it makes it really hard to preview thumbnails when they have a White Background.

the only way i know is to change your windows appearance to have black backgrounds everywhere, I dont believe it is an AutoCAD setting

I think explore makes a vslide of what the screen looked like the last time you saved/closed. So in order to make sure you always have a black background in explorer, you must have a black background in acad.

the background is set to black and the explorer preview shows up white, I dont think that this is something that is possible

Thanks guys, my drawings always have a black background when saved, including the print preview. I've just added a screenshot of my Windows Explorer Thumbnails and a Preview from AutoCAD (I have no trouble with the preview from AutoCAD). What do your Thumbnails look like?

Ok what that looks like has nothing to do with autocad (my guess)

If you are really looking for black backgrounds in the thumbnail box, i guess you'd have to play around with the apearence of Windows. Go to your desktop, right click, pick properties. There's all kinds of thing you can mess up in there ;-)

I'm assuming that's what you are looking to do. You're not talking about the thumbnail that shows up in Project Navigator are you?

I'm not sure how to post thumbnails, but mine look like yours, and as I stated before, it doesn't appear as though it is an AutoCAD Issue, or something that can be changed in AutoCAD

What happens if you set Layout tab background Colour to any of the standard colours ( Red, Yellow, Green, etc ) ?

What happens if you set Layout tab background Colour to any of the non-standard colours ( 8, 137 - the colour I work with, 150, etc) ?

Have a good one, Mike

This would show the thumbnail with the specified Layout tab background color. I have a user that uses a tanish colored layout background color. His saved thumbnails use that color.

Hi

This would show the thumbnail with the specified Layout tab background color. I have a user that uses a tanish colored layout background color. His saved thumbnails use that color.^ Exactly ^ therefore hopefully goes to prove it is always worth experimenting... see what results can be obtained.

In this case, it should prove AutoCAD can and_or does control the Thumbnail background colour use in Windows Explorer.

Have a good one, Mike
