What is the purpose of the apply to layout button in the plot dialogue???
Has it always been there? I have been ignoring it for quite some time.

it acts like a "save" button if you make a change to the plot setup for that layout.... if you have the checkbox checked to save changes to layout then it is kind of useless.

if you set all your settings for plotting the current layout and hit the "apply to layout" then next time you are in that current layout those setting will be default.

It will "apply" the current plot settings to the layout you are on. Basically it does the same thing as having "save changes to layout" checked and then plotting the drawing, but without plotting. The next time you plot that drawing it's going to come up with those settings. I want to say that it was added in '04 but don't quote me!!

^^....aahh......too slow!

Thanks for the info.
I always have the save changes to layout checked
so I doubt I will ever need to use the radio button.
I can see how it would be useful people.
Sounds like it gives the user a little more flexibility.

The main reason that was added was many times people would make minor changes to the plot settings from within the PLOT dialog instead of the PAGE SETUP dialog, thereby losing any changes they made unless they actually plotted the drawing.

Sometimes people make a few changes, do a preview, realize they forgot a note, but can't "save" their latest settings without plotting a bad drawing.
