Sorting a drawing list

This may seem a simple question but has be baffled.
I have a schedule of drawings, The way I understand it, I can sort by sheet numbe or drawing title.
I want to sort by sheet number, but also want to use prefixes (A, L, M, P, E ) etc for the various trades. How do I do a sort which puts them in the right order, L before A, P, before E, and so on?

Add a field to your schedule for the prefix order.
Sort by prefix order and then by sheet number.
Hide the column for the prefix order.

Here's another Duh! idea:

We just create separate Sheet schedules for Civil, Architecture and engineering.
Filter Civil by "begins with C",
Architectural by "begins with A"
and everything else by "does not begin with A" AND "does not begin with C"

Or you could use the Sheet number (less than ... more than ...)
