Greetings to all...
I am trying to print Turkish characters with simplex.shx. The main reason for doing so is that this font has no width, and will print at the thickness I assign to its colour.
I found out about "big fonts", but these print Asian characters, not Turkish.
Maybe there is another way. I would be grateful if someone could enlighten me.
Sincerely...

FWIW, - any shx font supplied with acad and ending in "s" also has "no width".
- Bigfonts can contain any character set.
So, you need to find an shx file that contains Turkish characters.
Hmm. At least some of the fonts supplied with the last couple of acad releases are supposed to be Unicode compatible so might have suitable characters (?).

Thank you for your reply. We are using Acad 2002, but have already ordered 2006 updates. We have been avoiding Turkish characters when using these particular fonts in the office.
Perhaps I will attempt to modify an existing shx font to suit my needs.
Thank you.

What does Turkish text look like - cyrillic?
I was looking for this earlier today and noticed only that Windoze supports Turkish language by default so some/many/most tt fonts must contain suitable characters.

Hi
The following Technical Documents from the Autodesk web site might help a little...
ID: TS55867 - Turkish characters in attribute blocks (http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=TS55867)
ID: TS17402 - General information about Unicode and code pages (http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=TS17402)
Have a good one, Mike

Dear John & Mike
Turkish alphabet comprises the latin alphabet minus w,q and x, and has a couple of slightly modified latin letters (sh as in "show", for example, is one letter not two; s has a small vertical line crossing the lower arm). The text appears, from a distance, written entirely with Latin letters (and therefore readable by foreigners). However, the extra letters are sometimes crucial in construction documents.
I read somewhere that this problem with shx fonts has been resolved in Acad 2006. I guess we will find out when our updates arrive.
Thank you both for your time.

Dear John,
that is indeed in Turkish - very strange though :)
The problem has been solved. The following file enables all Turkish characters to be printed&viewed. You cannot see them whilst editing though - you will have to press enter to see the end result.
This font was sent by a friend. It was not on the original cd supplied by Autodesk.
Anyway, this is officially the end of our problems regarding this issue. Thank you (and everyone) for your help. Perhaps this post will help some colleague in the future.
Regards.

Dear All,
The above problem persists in AutoCAD 2008. Use the file to solve this problem.
Thank you...
