Does anyone know if there is any third party software that can use a Revit building model as an import to then analyze the design for thermal performance, energy use, natural ventilation, daylight levels, acoustics?

Very detailed on every aspect of energy analysis.
Or simpler

Green Building Studio is the way to go...it's FREE!

This is the most detailed analysis you can get for free. The idea is that people use the GBS to run analysis multiple times, early in design, to maximize savings. Typically, energy analysis is done once, usually in CD's when the design is set, because it can be expensive to hire an engineer to run the analysis for you. This obviously doesn't allow for much change, with the calcs done so late in design.

Definately check out the GBS.

Can Ecotect import Revit files now? used to only import Archicad, DXF2D for tracing over, or 3DS.

Scott,
It looks impressive....Do you know what do they get from it? I mean it seems strange they ask for your business details (locking you to the firm you are working for). Is there something I'll be "dobbing" my employers in for if I register?

By your choice (if you check the box in GBS) you give the right to manufacturers that have agreements with the GBS to contact you about the use of their products in your projects. Sometimes this is good...I've found products I didn't know were available, or products that helped me save even more energy!

This is how the GBS can allow their product for free....they are allowing maufacturers to give product endorsements through the GBS service.

Ecotect has indicated that they intend to provide Revit compatibility at some point.

I think it does 3D dxf/dwg's as well, however Ecotect can't handle big Revit models, it's too complex with too many faces. So you might not be able to pull in your project anyways...
