I guess its going around... but I too just ordered a new box. :D

Someone please reassure me I won't regret my video card selection.

I went with an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro w/ 256 MB ... I got a screaming deal on it, but then I come back from the shop and see some complaints about the ATI boards... Should I just go back to the 128 mg GeForce? (same price)

Jim or Scott or someone, could you elaborate on what models your were using and what was the problems?

Its not the super high end system, but its from a build to suit place and for the price I think it'll do... Do you all agree?

3.0 P4 800 FSB HT... Intel Motherboard
2 gigs memory
ATI 9600 Pro w/256 MB

Now I want to render those darn trees!!! Have to wait till Friday....

Cathy,

Do you mean you have an ATI Radeon 9800 (vs. 9600)?

I have a 128 MB DDR ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Graphics Card and it works great for me (although I do not do much rendering).

At the moment I do not have a dual monitor setup. The ATI cards support dual monitors and I plan to add a second monitor soon. However, the ATI graphics cards support one DVI (digital) and one VGA (analog) monitor connection. If you connect two VGA monitors, you need to purchase the DVA-VGA Adapter ($10).

The card should work fine without hardware acceleration in 6.0 and with acceleration in 6.1. No promises though. ;-)

Last I heard, Accurender does not use hardware rendering, am I wrong?

No it really is a 9600 pro with 256mgs. But not listed on the ATI site...

Anyway... I'm a chicken, and have decided to go with Nvidia just to be sure...

Thanks for the replies

One of the advices I'm getting is to use Crucial Components for Ram & Cards as they offer lifetime warranty (maybe limited on cards)
Reasonably priced as well
The 9600 128MB is around £85.00
They offer a 9800 256 as well but a lot more
Maybe worth checking out for Nvidia

We are having problems with new drivers for our cards that come with the new dell laptops and desktops we have. I'm not sure of the card, I'll check tomorrow. But its 2 diff cards at least. So I think there is something in the new video drivers that 6.0 doesn't like. NO other app. is affected, just revit.
