Hide previous phase surface patterns

There ought to be a way to turn off surface patterns for previous phases in a filter. I don't think graying it is good enough. I'd like my elevations to not have a surface pattern on the walls in my CD's and still keep the surface pattern for the presentation drawings.

The only way I can seem to do this is to create two wall types and change the exterior finish material for printing different drawings. Any ideas or tis this something for the wishlist?

I think you're on the right track. You could make this a permanent feature of your project by creating separate materials for the existing walls only: Existing Brick, Existing Siding, etc., each with no surface pattern assigned. If you did any renderings, these existing materials would still show up (if you have your phasing set properly).
