loft?

Can you create a loft object in Revit like you can in VIZ? Also why can't I offset a spline? I am trying to make a free formed curved beam with different radiuses along the length of the beam. Any Suggestions?

I'm not sure what you mean by " loft object" But you are right about spline, use a series of arcs to define your path, then you can offset, but for a beam you don't need to offset, create a profile for your beam and have it follow the sweep path.

In Viz it is called a loft. In Revit it is called a sweep.

They are very similar, but Viz combines features of Revit's sweep and blend tools into one loft tool.

Loft (ing ) was originally a shipbuilding term.

Lofting creates a 3D object by placing 2D shapes along a path, like the ribs in the hull of a ship. The general process is to define a path and a shape, then extrude the shape along the path.

Revit does not do this at present.
