Hi All

I have created a family type which has a few symbolic lines. When I bring them into a project, I cant dimension to them. I have made them strong reference.

Any thoughts ?

You should have no problem doing this, even if the symbolic lines are set as Weak References. Can you post the RFA file here for examination?

Jit I've gone thru' this with a fine tooth comb. It seems there is a problem with the family template. If I erase the geometery I can then dim to the lines. as soon as I put any geomtery back it overides any line or reference. I will play around with it further and let you know if I get something right. :?: :?: :?:

Jit I have just re-done the family in a Speciality Equipment template, and it works. Seems something is up with the generic model template

Thanks

I too have spent a bit of time on this and it looks like the cutting plane in the template is set to 4000. If I increase the cutting plane to 4000, then I can dimension the symbolic lines, but you cant do that forever

We have come accross similar situations where we cannot dimension to certain geometry in a 'Generic Family' also - Its a Pain

Ditto - The generic template has issues with this sort of thing. We have been known to use the structural template.

Ahhhhhgggggg! I hate the Generic Template! :banghead:
Unfortunately for some things it is a necessary evil.
