View Full Version : Dimension Feature - can you find it?

Last night a co-worker claims he accidently dimensioned an entire garage addition in one command. He had all four walls selected, then clicked "something" and was holding some keys down...claims it placed an overall dim string as well as a string defining openings. For all four walls, kind of like the AEC dimension feature in ADT...

The question is...is he pulling my leg or is there really the early workings of a new dimension feature hiding (Easter Egg) in Revit 6.0 now!?

Now the real question, can anyone else find it too, does anyone care?

Let the fun begin... :D

In 6.0 you can change temporary dimensions to permanent dimensions.

Just click on the little dimension icon next to the temp. dimension.

That wasn't it...I asked that specifically...

In Revit 6.0, if you want to dimension walls, by clicking the first two walls and then keep on clicking more walls it will make a string of dimensions. The only problem is that you cannot change them individually. If you select one dimension out of the string, all the dimensions get hot. It's something like ADT where you select a wall and automatically it dimensions everything on that particular wall.

But the "easter egg" that Steve's team have found apparently auto dimensions all elements - walls, doors, window openings etc, in a string line through the building automatically.

Anyone know where that command is hiding ?

Just open his journal file and read through it and you will see what command he hit, if this is true.

This feature is in 6.1 which is available now and must be what he was using.

Yeah...except it's the last build 20040126_2100 he did it in...so it was an Easter Egg after all! The question is what key/selection combo did it?

Now that its in an 'official' release, maybe one of the Rev-Dev guys will fill us in on the 6.0 easter egg.
