View Full Version : Plan regions in elevations?

Anyone know if Revit enables something like the functionality of plan regions in elevations? I'm working on a project where I need to show the placement of windows behind a fence (in elevation), and I need to show a "cut through" this fence (the fence impedes the line of sight to these windows).
Any suggestions as to how to go about accomplishing this task?

I asked for this a while back (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=6257), but got no satisfactory response. I definitely would like to see it happen...along with "duplicate with detailing" for elevations.

Thanks for the reply. Here's to hoping this is resolved in the next build.

You do have some options tho.
1. If this is the only fence in the view - just turn off fences.
2. Use the linework tool (too tedious for my taste.)
3. Use a stepped section instead of an elevation.
4. Use worksets. For us, a fence would go in a landscaping workset and be easily toggled off.
5. Use two elevations. Crop the primary back and then create a second elevation with a different cut plane. Stack these next to each other. With minimal effort they will align and blend together as one view.

Thanks for the suggestions Aaron,
I put the fence in a workset of it's own and turned it off in the view properties for the elevation. Seems to do the trick for now.
