I am trying to create a new command so I can add it to a toolbar. I have a partial CUI file with all of our companies individual commands/menus/toolbars in it. When I create a new command though it wants to put the command in the "ACAD" source. How can I tell it that I would like the command to use my company's partial CUI as the source? Should I just create it as ACAD and then transfer it to the partial CUI and go back and delete it from ACAD? Thanks!

In the top left of the Custom User Interface (CUI) editor, you should see an area that says Customizations in ... CUI. (Replace the ... with the name of your CUI file.) There is a drop down list box which, probably, shows All Custimization Files and then each CUI file currently loaded. Within this drop down list, you should select the CUI file that you want the new command to be located in.

Thank you for you reply. I had already done those things, but still the "source" of the command is listed as ACAD. Does that perhaps just mean that it was created in Autocad whereas the other items were created during the import from the previous menu file, and that the command does still reside in the company.cui file?

Is the company cui listed as the enterprise menu in your AutoCAD Options box? If so, you will need to make a new profile with that cui as the main cui to do any edits. The enterprise cui is marked as read only as far as AutoCAD stands, whether the file is actually read only or not.

No it's not actually (which brings up a whole other point). We're all running laptops so the CUI is actually individual on each PC. I need to figure out how to make a company CUI that I can distribute when changes are made to it so that it will automatically update on each laptop (but it must be stored locally so that when the laptop is not connected to the network it will still be found). I guess maybe I need to do some investigation into the "enterprise menu". Any suggestions where I can do some reading?

The following threads are good starting points...

CUI and workspace videos from Autodesk (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=19301)

Have a good one, Mike

You need to create a profile to make that partial the main instead, to add the command to that cui file.
