Revit as a DWG convertor

I was just sent an AutoCAD 2004 file. Well, I don't have 2004 loaded, only 2000. What to do?

I opened Revit, imported the 2004 DWG, then exported the view to 2000 DWG. BAM! Now I can open it in our version of AutoCAD.

Revit is useful in so many ways!

Perhaps you meant 2004. It was my impression that 2002 and 2000 are the same file format...

Yes, you are correct! Thanks for catching that JB. I've edited the dates abouve from 2002 to 2004.

We have a lot of dgn stuff around here from a former Microstation license.

Revit converts these nicely to dwg for use with acadlite software.

Whenever someone around here wants a plot of a dwg or dgn, ninety percent of the time I do it with Revit, as I find I can set up a sheet faster & get better results with Revit.

I just tried something else & was surprised that it worked!!

Up till now, I've never been able to get a raster image to import into acadlite, without first converting the image to a .dwg. I think the full version of acad allows this, but acadlite doesn't.

Import a jpg into a revit view.
Export the view out as a .dwg
Open the .dwg with Autocad lite.
The jpg image is in the .dwg
