I keep getting an error to the effect that my browser is less than IE 6.1 and therefore isn't supported.

I can't find 6.1 anywhere to download though.

Also my laptop is only running 6.0.xxxxx, albeit SP1, and it installed on there okay.

For download just follow the link on the revit download site.

Previous version of Revit worked fine with Mozilla. Just wondering why now only Explorer??

On top of it, I somehow can not upgrade / downeload service pack 1

So there is the new version of Revit and .... guess have to wait for next week to check how to get Explorer 6.1

Only Gerhard and I with this problem? I have less than 2MB of XP SP1 to download on a 1:20 ratio ADSL line and still it claims that it will be another 50 minutes.

Frustrating.

Same problem with me too... WinXP Pro... latest service packs installed.

Could there be a conflict with previous versions? I currently have 5.0, 5.1 & 6.0 installed....

Different versions may be installed side by side , but different builds are another matter. In your case, there should be no conflict.

No issues to report so far.

how did you get SP2 for XP?

Gerhard
2004-03-13, 07:44 AM
I still have problems.
My Explorer version: see attachment.
When I try to install SP1 to upgrade the Explorer, I get the following messages:

The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP
or
The product key to install Windows is invalid!

By trying to install Revit, I get the message that to install the siftware I that IE explorer 6.1 is needed

And up to that Version all was fine with Mozilla. Never had problems to download / install any Revit content! (as well allmost all the spasm mail is filtered out by Mozilla)

So I'm still wondering

Gerhard,

I don't think such a thing as IE 6.1 exists. Can you attach an image of an error message given to you by the Revit Installer?

SohoCad,

I knew somebody was going to ask that; you see Bill Gates and I flunked out of college together so..................oh forget it, I'll tell the truth. I went to search for my version and found all these "hotfixes" marked "SP2" so I assumed I had Windows XP Pro SP2. I take it SP2 doesn't exist yet? Busted!

I'm in transition from downloading and installing everything MS throws at you to waiting a few days and see what shakes out. The final stage of this transition is to actually know what you are downloading/installing/talking about.

Have now installed IE6.0 SP1 ( an exercise in its own right , due to known conflict problem with Windows XP Hotfix KB823559 - Thats the error message " The software you are installing has not passed the Windows Logo Testing ... etc ).

Tried to install revit 6.1 and got exactly the same error message.

I see you have xpsp2, but I can't get that to install.... and I doubt that that could be the problem with Revit anyway.

Beegee

since you had also the problem to upgrade IE 6 SP1
I wonder how you managed to do it in the end?
Any hints??

Hi Gerhard,

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;828031&Product=ie600 is the link to Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 828031, which takes you through the process.
Very nice of them, since the problem was caused by their own security patch in the first place !!

As I said though, that still hasn't solved the problem of installing 6.1.

Is there anyone running XP Pro ( without SP1 )+ IE 6.0 sp1 , who has successfully installed Revit 6.1 ?

PeterJ

That is the same message I was receiving, Beegee regarding the unsupported version of IE.

I have XP SP1 on this laptop, but it was an OEM install.

Failure to install is a confirmed bug in Revit Installer. We will post a fixed download in a few days.

Thanks for the heads up, Leonid.

Was the problem to do with XP, or IE6 , or a combination ?

I have now managed to install SP1 on my desktop and 6.1 is installing okay, though it seems the content installer is running very slowly.

G'day All,

I've installed on both my Desktop & laptop machines with no dramas. Although finishing it off today, download was painfully slow.

Both machines are running XP Pro (SP1) & IE 6.02800.11.06.xpsp2

Ummmm, how's the fixed download going ? ( XP + IE 6 users waiting ... impatiently )

Fixed installer is available for download. Please give it a try. It is the same build of Revit 6.1 so we did not follow up with the announcement. There are no other changes but the fix to the install program that takes care of IE6 problem. People who successfully installed previously do not need to download again.

Thanks for the quick fix. I've been looking forward to getting 6.1 in place. I'll let you know if I have any problems.
