I now have 6.1 installed, but it did not recognize my previous license no. etc. It has only given me a demo copy!!! Do I have to go thru the authorization process again? Where is my previous license info? I also think it deleted 6.0. :x

I read this again...this isn't meant to be harsh...since you asked what happened, I'm providing info so that others might avoid this too...
Uh oh, sounds like you didn't read the docs prior to installing...if you had you would have known that 6.1 users will be required to obtain new authorization and that serial numbers are forth coming (probably why 60 days is the new trial period, since 30 was cutting it close last time around)
Also, if 6.0 was un-installed, you "flew" by the message asking you if you wanted to keep or remove 6.0 (the first message past the first install dialog if I recall)
Mr. Burri's announcement did stress that we should "actually read" the "read this first" document...

All you need is your serial number to activate 6.1.
If you've forgotten it or have not received an email indicating your serial number, you can go to your 6.0 install, select "Help", "Product and License Information..." and your serial number should be listed on the dialog.
Use this same serial number to activate 6.1 directly through the product or via the web at register.autodesk.com (http://register.autodesk.com).

Hopefully, since he says that he thinks 6.0 is uninstalled, he has received his CD (6.0) by now so he's got the product serial number on the "box". Failing that, perhaps his reseller can help him find out what serial number he has...

Steve, No "harshness" taken. Thank you for the information. I have a bad habit of skipping the "READ THIS FIRST" docs. I also blindly "I ACCEPT" whatever agreement it is the Autodesk lawyers have put on the screen during the installation process. Maybe I am missing something important there too. Perhaps I have given up my first born without even knowing it. I feel bad now!

I tried to authorize a 6.1 with my 6.0 serial number and was unable to do so.. talked to Adesk and the guy said he'd had a few of these today...
They are looking into it. Don't know if its just my situation, new machine, hadn't installed 6.0 or what?
Anyway... just a word of caution, don't fret they are aware of the situation and ask you to send in your request code screen to see if they can find what is happening..
Until then... trial mode..

Cathy,
You use vanilla Revit not ARS 1.0, don't you? ARS serial numbers will not work with downloaded 6.1 and ARS customers need to wait until next version of ARS is released.

The read me file says that I need to update to the latest FlexLM... it doesn't say that I need to update my license file... does anyone know what happens after I update FlexLM... will my old license work.
You'll need to get a new license file for Revit 6.1 and append that data to the old license file. The other product's licensing information in the old file should work just fine with the new server.

Leonid -
My situation is: ... I D/L 6.1 Vanilla Revit ... then used a 6.0 Serial that has never been installed (fresh off the box)... (I'm thinking this might be part of the problem) ? Also Vanilla Revit... The Authorization Adesk guy said he was able to register it, we just couldn't get the Auth code to come up? I couldn't do it online at all?
I've gotten a new computer and decided to start fresh on everything... Its running great in trial mode !!!
