I never realized how good SolidWorks was until I started using Inventor. One of many ways that SWX is better software is that it offers you a wealth of information about every component with a Properties Manager pane. Displayed there are such useful things as component relations (and the actual names of the related components), state of definition, over-defining relations (which are allowed, and very useful), assembly relations, and depending upon the component selected you gets things like XYZ coordinates, arc length and radius, line length, dimension properties, etc. Further, you can edit most the displayed values from within the properties manager pane.
You folks at Autodesk need to understand that solid modeling is an EXCHANGE of information between the user and the software. It is a conversation. Every feature that you can incorporate that facilitates this conversation makes the software easier and more satisfying to use, and makes the software/user team more effective and efficient.
Your product development team should have the vision (and courage) to examine all the features that are offered by your competition, and then include them and improve upon them for your own products. Until then, Inventor will remain a sorry also-ran product.
