Ladies and Gentlemen -

We have missed the 6.0 launch meeting and are now into the 6.1 timeframe. It is time to catch up, get together and talk shop. It is time for another So. Cal. Revit Users Group Meeting.

Basics:
Who: All users and future users of Autodesk Revit
What: Get together and talk
Why: We are past due
Where: WATG Newport Beach - MAP AND DIRECTIONS (http://www.watg.com/webdocs/NB%2Epdf)
When: 1 April 2004, around 6:00 PM – No Foolin’

Agenda:
Like our meetings in the past, we will keep things relatively loose and maintain our "Open Agenda". Below are the proposed topics:

• Welcome and AUGI News
• Lessons Learned at AU?
• A review of what’s new in Revit 6.0 AND the all new 6.1
• The traditional “Show and Tell” so bring it if you’ve got it.
• Wrap up & Q&A
• Possible Autodesk Raffle – Giveaway is tentative at the time of this announcement.

Dinner Provided:
Dinner and drinks will be provided for all in attendance. We have done pizza in the past and may be able to get ribs and chicken. Please let me know if you have a preference on one or the other.

Misc:
There will be a laptop(s) and projector(s) available. If you want to bring a project to show, please put it on a USB memory drive.

RSVP is a MUST:
All are welcome; all I ask is that you let me know ahead of time (at least 2 days prior). Please email me if you plan on attending and how many you will be bringing. My email address in cryptic form is my first initial (j) last name (balding) @ watg.com (anti spam)

Thank you and good day –

- JB

All went well. Thanks to all that showed up in the pouring rain and those that presented. It was a special night as we had a preview of Revit Release 7.0. Everyone, and I mean everyone, saw what I told them was release 7.0 and that the Revit team was focused on "simplifying" Revit. What they saw was Revit Release 1.0. They ALL bought it and I could not hold on long enough to play it out. When I told them that it was april fools... You should have seen the looks on their faces...

Thanks all for making the trek in the rain and let's do it again next month.

JB had us all fooled! Had an 'official' letter about our special 'preview of Revit 7.0 Alpha' and even had everyone in the room sign a very official looking "Non-disclosure Agreement"

He even demo'd the new "Railing" tool that was going to allow us to place railing components on the fly from within the model....turns out that this was Revit's first attempt at Curtain Walls! The tool was called Railing Tool back then! JB, you OWE us BIG TIME now for that one....I expect to see the real thing at the next meeting!!!! :D I guess even Steve Burri at Revit-desk was in on this April Fools, too!

I couldn't believe that he pulled it off on all of us!

It was definately a good night with a great turn out despite the rain! (wait, I thought it doesn't rain in Southern California???) More than half of the people were Revit newbies with little or no experience. Its good to see the new people and watch them get excited by Revit!

I guess even Steve Burri at Revit-desk was in on this April Fools, too!

Yeah, Steve dug up a license file for me that would allow me to save a file on 1.0. He was gracious enough to give me a full 30 days ;)
