Phasing question

I have existing phase and proposals phases
When working on the proposals and put a door/window/etc in an existing wall I get a red dashed line which runs across as if demolished. I tried to split the wall in the previous phase but this did not work.
When I do a perspective I see the frame of the door but the inside is blank that leads me to believe that it does not recognize the opening and still treats the wall as a whole piece.
Any help?

Set your phase filters.

I.E., if you choose "show complete" as a phase filter, all that stuff will disappear.
