I want to make a wall that has on one face two different finishing and thickness. I can't use two different walls, because for some reason they don't join nicely.

Hi,

maybe you could try using the split face on the wall and the paint it with a different material.
However, this wouldn't work if the finishes have different thickness.

I want to make a wall that has on one face two different finishing and thickness. I can't use two different walls, because for some reason they don't join nicely.
Here's a common technique:
Create a core wall type (e.g. the studs and sheathing) and your finish wall types (e.g. plaster and wood siding). Draw the core wall. Then draw the finish walls adjacent to the core (this is a good use of the wall location option). Then join them together using the join geometry tool.

Yeah, i know that technique, but I always thought that it was not the correct way to do it because Revit will not recognize it as 1 wall but as 3 different walls. I guess I can then make the following wall (see attachment) 1 wall and join 3 finishes without any problems. It would take me a bit longer but I wouldn't have any problems with unclean intersecting walls.

not the cleanest fix, but you can use an generic object that attaches to the exterior at those locations, have the object interfere with the wall at least 1/16" of an inch or so to appear to have a clean connection.

the family could be parametric and allow you to change the height or width of it without needed 100 different familes of different sizes. Just ensure that the parameters are not global settings.

Why don't you use a stacked wall?
